Frequent discussions about Georgia in the US Congress and Senate, as well as in the European Council, indicate strong Western backing for the country’s European integration, Tina Bokuchava, Chairwoman of Unity – National Movement said on Thursday.

In the comment which came ahead of today’s discussions in the EU about Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, Bokuchava claimed it reflected a “commitment by Georgia’s Western partners to support its progress toward EU membership”.

She also stressed that October 26 general elections will be a decisive moment for Georgia, as the European Council prepares to address the country’s path forward amid concerns about the government’s “anti-Western policies”.
