Tina Bokuchava, head of the opposition United National Movement, on Monday criticised Georgia’s current authorities for deeming as “misused” the expenses incurred by former President Mikheil Saakashvili to maintain international relations.

“Except for Russia, every cost spent on supporting Georgia’s international friends has been labeled wasteful by today’s traitorous criminal group, which has taken control of the country and seeks to isolate Georgia from its Western partners,” Bokuchava said.

She specifically referenced expenditures for hosting US Secretary of State visits and attending the late Polish President Lech Kaczyński’s funeral, noting that Poland’s Foreign Minister expressed outrage over the mischaracterisation of these funds.

Bokuchava further criticised the authorities for aligning Georgia with countries like China and Iran, where, according to her, anti-Western rhetoric was prominent, arguing that the Government’s actions undermine Georgia’s ties with democratic nations.
