United National Movement Chair Tina Bokuchava on Friday said that Igor Narmania, head of the party’s youth wing, was undergoing medical examinations, including a CT scan, after sustaining a “serious head injury” during an attack in Tbilisi.

Bokuchava said Narmania was struck in the head with a large metal object, resulting in an open wound.

“He has an open wound of about two–three centimeters, and surgical intervention is required. Even as he was being placed into the ambulance, he said no one would be able to frighten or stop him, and that he would certainly join us on Rustaveli Avenue,” Bokuchava stated.

She added that citizens must gather on Saturday to stand against violence and intimidation.

“As for what needs to be done - we must take to the streets tomorrow, hold flags in our hands, bring our children, and gather at 4:00 p.m. on Rustaveli Avenue to defend their future, so that they are not threatened, kidnapped, or beaten, and so they have a chance at a normal life. We can achieve this, and I am certain that through unity, not intrigue, we will win,” Bokuchava said.
