Georgian Culture Minister Tinatin Rukhadze resigns over health reasons

Georgian Culture Minister Tinatin Rukhadze has resigned from her position, citing health reasons.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Culture on Tuesday, Rukhadze said she made the decision after consulting with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and explained that she requires a specialised course of medical treatment, which will prevent her from carrying out her duties as minister.

“Following consultations with the Prime Minister, I have decided to step down as Minister of Culture. Due to my health condition, I need to undergo a specialised course of treatment, which means I will not be able to fulfil my responsibilities properly,” Rukhadze said.

She described culture as a field that requires constant care and attention, adding that she regretted being unable to devote the necessary time to work she “deeply loves”.

Rukhadze thanked the Prime Minister for his trust, members of the government for their support, and the staff of the Ministry of Culture for their dedication and service.

“I will continue to support you and wish you every success,” she said.
