Metropolitan of Akhalkalaki and Kumurdo, archbishop Nikoloz has offered a home arrest for imprisoned former president Mikheil Saakashvili in his eparchy.

He says that the offer may be an outcome from the current political tension.

“First of all I am looking for ways out of the situation,” He said.

The cleric says that if the government accepts the offer, they will select a proper place in the eparchy for Saakashvili.

Saakashvili, who currently holds Ukrainian citizenship, was arrested in Tbilisi on October 1 after eight years in political exile.
