The Roads Department of Georgia has announced temporary traffic restrictions on parts of the Zhinvali–Barisakho–Shatili road due to heavy snowfall.

The Department on Monday said all types of vehicles were prohibited from travelling between kilometre markers 67 and 84 (Khakhmati–Lebaiskari) until further notice.

Traffic between km 52–66 (Korsha–Khakhmati) and km 85–106 (Lebaiskari–Shatili) is allowed only for high-clearance, four-wheel-drive vehicles, while movement of all other types of transport remains restricted.

The km 1–51 (Zhinvali–Korsha) section of the road remains fully open to traffic.

The Roads Department urged drivers to exercise caution and follow the instructions of patrol and maintenance crews operating in the area.
