Traffic restrictions imposed on major roads in Eastern Georgia due to severe weather

The Roads Department of Georgia on Tuesday announced traffic restrictions on certain sections of the country’s road network in response to adverse weather conditions.

The following restrictions are now in effect:

Kutaisi – Tskaltubo-Tsageri – Lentekhi – Lasdili section of the automobile road (km146-km151, Tsana-Lasdili) is closed to all types of vehicular traffic.

The section of the automobile road (km125-km146, Mela-Tsana) is open only to high-capacity vehicular traffic, while movement for other types of vehicles is prohibited.

The section of the automobile road (km1-km125) is freely accessible.These restrictions took effect earlier on Tuesday and will remain in place until further notice.

In addition, the following routes are currently impassable:Kutaisi (Motsameta) – Tkibuli – Ambrolauri section of the road (km39-km52, Nakerala Pass) is closed to all types of vehicular traffic.

The section of the road from Sachkhere (Sareki) to Uzunta – Shkmeri – Zudali is closed to all types of vehicular traffic.

The agency has also warned of heavy snowfall, strong winds, possible blizzards, a powerful storm in coastal areas, and 4-5-meter waves at sea until Wednesday.
