US President Donald Trump on Friday said he would ask Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate former President Bill Clinton and other Democrats’ connections to convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein.
"Now that the Democrats are using the Epstein Hoax, involving Democrats, not Republicans, to try and deflect from their disastrous SHUTDOWN, and all of their other failures, I will be asking A.G. Pam Bondi, and the Department of Justice, together with our great patriots at the FBI, to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s involvement and relationship with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, J.P. Morgan, Chase, and many other people and institutions, to determine what was going on with them, and him", Trump said in a lengthy post on his social media platform Truth Social.
The call comes after Democratic members of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released emails tied to Epstein, the billionaire convicted in a sexual scandal, in which Trump is mentioned several times. Media reports indicate that in one 2011 email, Epstein wrote to Ghislaine Maxwell that Trump spent hours at his house with a victim of sexual trafficking, referring to Trump as “the dog that doesn’t bark”.
Epstein was arrested in 2019 on sexual trafficking charges and died by suicide in jail before his trial later that year. Court documents released last year named several high-profile individuals connected to Epstein, including Trump, although the documents do not allege any wrongdoing on his part.
