US President Donald Trump on Tuesday claimed that he was deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to end multiple international conflicts.

“We have ended eight wars and we will end one more, I hope. Every time I end a war they say if the President ends this war he will get the Nobel Prize, now they say if I end the Russia-Ukraine war I will get the Nobel Prize. What about the other eight wars? India, Pakistan, remember all the wars that I ended. I should get the Nobel Prize for all the wars that I ended, but I do not want to, I do not want to be greedy", he said.

Trump said he cared more about lives lost than awards, though he did note that María Corina Machado Parisca, the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize laureate for her efforts to advance democracy in Venezuela, reportedly believed he deserved the prize.

“That was very nice of her. I appreciate that”, he said.

Trump added that recognition was not his primary motivation, highlighting the loss of life in recent conflicts: "You know what cares about me? Death. I am saddened by all the people that die. Last month, 27,000 young people died".
