US President Donald Trump said a successful meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could bring peace closer.

When asked if securing a full and immediate ceasefire through talks with Putin would count as a US victory, Trump dismissed the question as “not a very good one.”

“Tomorrow, all I want is to prepare for the next meeting (with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy), which should take place soon. I want it to happen very quickly, right after this meeting,” Trump said.

He added that he hopes the meeting could be held in Alaska, where he and Putin would stay, making the process “much easier.”

“I think it will be very interesting. We’ll find out what position everyone has. In the first two, three, four, or five minutes, I will know whether it will be a successful or unsuccessful meeting. If it’s bad, it will end very quickly. If it’s good, we will achieve peace in the near future,” Trump stated.
