US President Donald Trump on Monday said he did not believe Ukraine would win its war against Russia but did not rule out the possibility of victory either.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Trump said Ukraine “can still win”, though he personally did not think it likely.

“They [Ukrainians] can still win. I do not think they will, but they can still win. I never said they would win, I said they can win. Anything can happen,” Trump said.

The President described war as “a very strange thing,” adding that “a lot of good and bad things happen”.

Commenting on the Middle East, Trump said that before the US struck Iran “so hard”, it would not have been possible to reach a deal.

“We took away their nuclear capabilities, which was one of the greatest military operations of all time,” he said.
