US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that a minerals deal between the United States and Ukraine would be completed, despite uncertainties surrounding the agreement. Speaking to Fox News, Trump was asked whether he expected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to return to negotiations and finalize the deal.

“Yeah. I think so. I think it’ll happen,” Trump said.

While he did not provide further details on the status of the deal, Trump took the opportunity to criticize US spending on Ukraine compared to European financial contributions in the ongoing conflict against Russia.

“You know the other thing with Europe that bothers me? They’ve given Russia more money, by far, for buying their oil than they put into Ukraine. So they’re paying all this money to Russia and we’re in there for $350 billion. Biden should have never done that,” Trump stated.
