Gia Kharchilava, who is a single opposition mayor around the country in the Tsalenjikha municipality of western Georgia, said on Wednesday that his car was “deliberately burnt”.

Speaking to the media, the official who defeated the ruling Georgian Dream candidate in the last year polls, claimed that the incident could be connected with his political activities.

The opposition politician said that the vehicle, which was parked in front of his house, had undergone maintenance checks and no issues were detected.

Police are looking into the incident.
