The Central Election Commission (CEC) has completed the registration process for political parties participating in Georgia’s parliamentary elections scheduled for October 26. According to the CEC, the deadline for registration, set by law, expired on August 30. A total of 27 parties have been officially registered.

The registration process varied depending on the status of the parties. For those without parliamentary representation at the time the elections were announced, the deadline to submit 25,000 supporting signatures was July 15. Out of the 30 parties that applied, two were not considered (one due to the revocation of registration by the Public Registry, and another due to the termination of the leader’s authority).
Of the remaining 28 parties, 17 successfully registered, while 11 were denied registration.

For parties that had parliamentary members at the time of the election announcement, CEC says 10 applied and all were successfully registered.

“The next step for the registered political parties is to submit their candidate lists by September 26. As per the law, each party is allowed to submit only one list, with a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 200 candidates for parliamentary seats. The CEC will then review and verify the submitted documents before finalizing the registrations,” the statement released by the commission reads.

This marks the official start of the election season, as Georgia prepares for a crucial parliamentary vote.
