Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili held a presentation of the investment project in Tskaltubo – “New Life of Tskaltubo” on Tuesday, stating that 14 sanatoriums were for sale, the value of which, according to current estimations, stood at 50 million GEL.

The PM claimed that a general plan of Tskaltubo had been approved and the resort would be developed according to it.

“Our plan, our vision is to start the process of restoring Tskaltubo. This was the promise of the ruling party,” said the Prime Minister.”Our expectation is that about 500 million GEL will be invested. Of course, it will be a private investment, in addition, the state will also invest to make Tskaltubo a modern, world-class spa resort,” Garibashvili stated.

He said that the government had ensured infrastructure to make the resort more attractive.

“Our government has already carried out important reconstruction work. Thanks to them Kutaisi International Airport has increased four times, and the transport infrastructure has been arranged,” he said. The PM stated that in  2019, Tskaltubo was visited by 25,000 visitors “and we expect the figure will rise.”

On October 29, 2019, the then chairman of the Georgian Dream party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, announced that he would buy back all the facilities of Tskaltubo from the state and start a full-scale renovation of the tourist and medical infrastructure and ensure the development of the resort with his own  funds.
