Tsotne Ananidze has been elected Chair of the Supreme Council of Adjara following a secret ballot vote.

Ananidze secured 12 votes on Thursday, exceeding the 11 required to assume the position.

Prior to his election, Ananidze represented Kobuleti in the council and served as Chair of the Human Rights Committee.

In his remarks, the official thanked colleagues for their support, describing the role as a responsibility toward both the public and shared national goals. He stressed the importance of stability, national values, and public service.

Ananidze replaced Davit Gabaidze, who stepped down on March 30. Gabaidze had served as Chair of the Supreme Council for three consecutive terms, leading the regional legislative body since 2016.
