The chairman of the Supreme Council of Adjara, Tsotne Ananidze, has criticised opposition reactions to the recent meeting between Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Ananidze on Tuesday said it was a “futile attempt” by opposition groups to interpret the meeting in their favour.
“Why did the meeting between Zelenskyy and the prime minister cause such agitation within the radical opposition? The answer is simple: they are aware of the prime minister’s firm position in defending Georgia’s domestic and foreign interests,” he said.
Ananidze also pointed to what he described as previous examples, including developments in Ashgabat, as evidence of the government’s consistent stance.
He added that attempts to politically exploit the meeting would not succeed.
