Turkey sends 8-ton tank firefighting plane to combat forest fire in Georgia’s Borjomi municipality

As part of the international aid in the Borjomi municipality of central-western Georgia, a firefighting plane with an eight-ton tank of the Republic of Turkey has been involved to combat forest fires, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia said on Wednesday.
The Ministry stated that two more specialized firefighting aircrafts will be involved to put out the fire which erupted on August 19.
“In Borjomi municipality, the fire containment and extinguishing works were carried out continuously throughout the night. Employees of various departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, as well as the relevant services of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture actively participate in the process. Border police helicopters resumed their work in the morning”, said the Ministry.
In its earlier comments, the Ministry said that more than 1,200 professionals with more than 120 vehicles and with the use of four border police helicopters were trying to put out the fire.
