Turkish businessman Galif Ozturki, owning dozens of companies in Georgia that are part of Metro Holding or its partners, was fined 500 GEL for the purchase and possession of marijuana on Wednesday, following a high-profile arrest earlier in June.

The businessman faced charges for purchase, storage and transportation of drugs.

At today’s trial, Ozturk’s lawyer Tengiz Kakhidze submitted an expert conclusion, according to which the defendant did not consume drugs, claiming that the seized marijuana “belonged to someone else.”

Ozturk was arrested on May 31 in Batumi, with the law enforcement agencies stating that 7.2159 gr of cocaine was seized during the search.
