TV presenter Nanuka Zhorzholiani on Monday announced on social media that the Nanuka Foundation, an organization known for providing financial support to those detained or suppressed during ongoing protests in Georgia, has been suspended by authorities.

The foundation has been offering aid to individuals arrested or affected during demonstrations against the Georgian Dream government’s decision late last year to halt the country’s EU integration process until 2028. The protests, which have escalated in recent months, are seen as a critical issue for many Georgians who support closer ties with the European Union.

In a brief post on social media, Zhorzholiani confirmed the suspension and expressed that she was investigating the reasons behind it.

“The Nanuka Foundation has been suspended [by authorities]. Details are unknown, I am investigating the reasons,” Zhorzholiani wrote.
