Two mass vaccination sites in North Carolina and Colorado closed temporarily this week after some people experienced adverse effects after receiving a shot from Johnson & Johnson, the Wall Street Journal reported.
In North Carolina, vaccinations were suspended Thursday after 18 people were diagnosed with adverse reactions. Four people were taken to local hospitals for testing, Wake County health officials said.
Before the termination of the center's activities, more than 2.3 thousand people were vaccinated.
County officials said the decision was made in conjunction with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as a precautionary measure, in consultation with Johnson & Johnson.
In Colorado, a mass vaccination site was temporarily closed Wednesday after 11 people developed adverse reactions.
Two people were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.
Adverse reactions were reported in just 0.62% of all vaccinated in Colorado.
Adverse reactions included nausea and dizziness.
A Johnson & Johnson spokesperson said the company would carefully consider any reported adverse events in people who received their vaccine.
