US Congressman Joe Wilson supports Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, calls for new elections

US Congressman Joe Wilson expressed his support for Salome Zourabichvili, declaring her the legitimate President of Georgia amidst political turmoil in the country.

In a post on X, Wilson commended Zourabichvili’s courage, stating:
“Salome Zourabichvili remains the legitimate president of Georgia. I commend her bravery as she stands against the illegitimate government trying to foist a Russian puppet president on Georgians. There must be new elections!”

Wilson’s statement comes after the Election College elected Mikheil Kavelashvili as the country’s sixth president. Georgia’s current President Salome Zourabichvili and the opposition parties do not recognize the legitimacy of the parliament and the newly elected president.
