The United Kingdom has tightened its migration police and introduced the obligation for Georgian citizens and the nationals of more than 100 states to take transit visas while using its airports, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

The body stressed the obligation of taking the Direct Airside Transit visa will come into effect starting from September 8.

This category of visa is required when a person travels to a third country, changes flights in Great Britain and does not go through border control, the body added, noting the changes will also concern the citizens of  Moldova, Ukraine, Turkey, North Macedonia, South Africa, China, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Montenegro Bosnia and many other states.
