UK PM congratulates Kobakhidze on his appointment as Georgian PM

The UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has extended warm congratulations to Irakli Kobakhidze on his recent appointment as the Prime Minister of Georgia. Sunak emphasized the “strong friendship” shared between the two nations, spanning over three decades.
“The closeness of our relationship is captured in the UK-Georgia Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, spanning political, security, commercial, and cultural links, as well as the annual Wardrop Strategic Dialogue,” Sunak remarked.
Sunak pledged “unwavering support” for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russian aggression, reaffirming the UK’s commitment to standing by its Georgian ally.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Georgia amid the backdrop of Russia’s actions in Ukraine, Sunak acknowledged the poignant resonance these events hold for the Georgian populace, reflecting on shared challenges and historical struggles.
Sunak expressed delight in the collaborative efforts between the two governments aimed at implementing reforms l for realizing Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations and bolstering the nation’s cyber resilience against Russian hybrid aggression.
