UK’s new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Tuesday vowed support for Ukraine, stating that the country “can count on us”.

“A privilege to speak to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy this evening. Both he and the Ukrainian people can count on the UK’s continued solidarity and support. We will always stand with Ukraine” he tweeted.

42-year-old Sunak officially took over the role of Prime Minister of Great Britain on October 25, after King Charles III ordered the formation of a government. A day earlier, Sunak was elected chairman of the ruling Conservative Party.

The previous Prime Minister of Great Britain, Liz Truss, resigned a month and a half after her election as her economic policies faced serious opposition.
