Ukraine warns Iran against possible missile transfer to Russia

Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) issued a warning to Iran on September 7 regarding the potential transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia. The Ukrainian government has expressed serious concerns over recent media reports suggesting that Iran may be supplying such missiles to bolster Russian forces amid their ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian MFA emphasized that any transfer of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia would have “devastating consequences” for Ukrainian-Iranian relations. The ministry’s statement underscored that Russia recognized as an aggressor state under the UN Charter and international law, has been attacking Ukraine for over two years, including with Iranian-made drones.

Ukraine has urged Iran to halt any weapon or military equipment supplies to Russia, calling for Tehran to demonstrate its commitment to peace and non-involvement in fueling Russia’s military actions. The ministry also called on the international community to increase pressure on both Tehran and Moscow to protect global peace and security.

Recent reports from British news outlet The Times suggest that Iran has already shipped 200 ballistic missiles, specifically Fath-360 with a range of 120 kilometers, to a port in the Caspian Sea. The Iranian government has denied these allegations, assuring that it has not provided weapons to Russia during the ongoing conflict.
