A Georgian volunteer fighter, Giorgi Damenia, has been killed while fighting in Ukraine, according to reports from Georgian media and associates.
Damenia, 30, was originally from the western Georgian town of Senaki. He had been living in Ukraine in recent years and was participating in combat operations against Russian forces.
Efforts are currently underway to repatriate his remains to Georgia, with officials and family members working to determine the timing of his return.
Damenia's death adds to the growing number of Georgian nationals who have been killed while fighting in Ukraine since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.
