Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on social media that the process of returning Ukrainian soldiers from Russian captivity has resumed under an agreement reached in Istanbul.
“Today marks the first stage of the return of our injured and severely wounded warriors from Russian captivity. All of them require immediate medical attention. This is an important humanitarian act,” Zelenskyy wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The President said that the freed soldiers include members of the Armed Forces, National Guard, State Border Guard Service, and State Special Transport Service of Ukraine. He added that exchanges will continue and that Ukraine is doing everything to bring back every captive soldier.
“I am grateful to everyone who is contributing to this effort,” Zelenskyy said.
