Shalva Papuashvili, the Georgian parliament speaker, on Thursday said the Ukrainian authorities had no right to speak to the Georgian people and its government from a “moral pedestal”, reminding Kyiv Tbilisi had undergone three wars with Russia before invading Ukraine in 2014 and 2022.

Accusing the Ukrainian authorities of promoting wanted Georgian former officials, making “ungrounded allegations” on the use of Georgia by Russia for evading international sanctions, and “unfair” recalling of its ambassador from Georgia and then returning Georgian ambassador back to Tbilisi over the issue related to the former president Mikheil Saakashvili, Papuashvili said while at wars with Russia, Georgia had “neither demanded anything, nor speaking to anyone standing on the moral pedestal”.

He claimed the view of the Ukrainian authorities and its people did not match, as the former was “attacking the Georgian people”.
