Ukraine imposes sanctions on family members of Georgian ruling party founder Ivanishvili

Ukraine on Thursday imposed sanctions on members of Bidzina Ivanishvili‘s family, a founder of the ruling Georgian Dream and the former prime minister of the country, who is dubbed as an informal ruler of the country by the part of the domestic opposition and a number of Ukrainian officials.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already signed the relevant decree, local media has reported.
The so-called “black-list” drafted by the Security Service of Ukraine includes Ivanishvili’s brother Aleksandre Ivanishvili, his wife Ketevan Kharaidze, aunt Ucha Mamatsashvili and his son Tite Mamatsashvili.
Sanctions will also apply to businessmen Davit Iakobashvili, Aleksandre Japaridze and Giorgi Japaridze.
In total, sanctions have affected 2,507 individuals and 1,374 legal entities.
The sanctions include freezing the assets of the listed individuals – they will be temporarily unable to use and dispose of their own property, as well as dispose of the property that they indirectly own.
