Ahead of the European Council summit in Brussels, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission, Charles Michel and Ursula von der Leyen, on Thursday signed an agreement on security.

EU member states unanimously supported the signing of the document called “Common Security Obligations between the European Union and Ukraine.” Ukraine also received a financial support tranche of 1.9 billion euros from the European Union within the framework of the Ukraine Facility program, said the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denis Shmygal.

“I want to thank the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and her entire team for such unwavering support,” Shmygal wrote on social media.

According to his information, since the beginning of this year, budgetary support from the European Union has already reached almost 8 billion euros.

On March 20, the European Commission handed over the first tranche of aid to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility, amounting to 4.5 billion euros.
