Talks between the representatives of Russia and Ukraine are scheduled today at the Belarus border amid hostilities in Ukraine ‘without and preconditions’ as President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated.

He said that he does not have high expectations from the talks, but it is worth trying anyway.

Meanwhile Zelensky has told  British Prime Minister Boris Johnson that the next 24 hours will be a “crucial period”.

Kyiv said that Sunday was a “difficult time” for its troops and that Russian soldiers “continue shelling in almost all directions”. However, they managed to defend Kyiv and other large cities.

Ukraine’s health ministry says 352 civilians, including 14 children, have been killed since the beginning of hostilities.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has put the country’s nuclear forces on high alert, a move which has been also strongly condemned by the international community.

The west is due to announce new sanctions against Russia today which are expected to be devastating.

The majority of European states have banned flights from Russia and also imposed other restrictions against the country.
