Ukrainian consul Alexander Sosonyuk was detained in the Russian city of St. Petersburg. He was detained by the FSB allegedly "when receiving information of a classified nature during a meeting with a citizen of the Russian Federation."
This was reported by RIA Novosti.
The Ukrainian diplomat is suspected of obtaining classified information from the databases of law enforcement agencies.
"This activity is incompatible with the status of a diplomatic worker and has a clear hostile nature towards the Russian Federation. Measures will be taken against the foreign diplomat in accordance with the norms of international law," the secret service said.
