Ukrainian Embassy in Georgia lauds Georgia’s EU candidacy

The Ukrainian Embassy in Georgia on Friday extended its congratulations to Georgia on obtaining the European Union membership candidate status.

“We congratulate the Georgian people on a historic day for the country and the European Union. This is a momentous event in the life of our nations. The future of Ukraine and Georgia is intricately tied to the European Union”, it said. 

The diplomatic mission also said “honor and glory to the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the freedom, independence, and European future of Ukraine and Georgia. We extend our sincere gratitude to our partner countries within the European Union for their unwavering support”. 

The decision by the European Council, announced on Thursday, designated Georgia as a candidate country for EU membership. Furthermore, the Council has initiated accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova, underscoring the commitment to expanding the EU family.
