Russia is developing smuggling channels via Georgia as the former has faced various sanctions due its recent invasion of Ukraine, the intelligence department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has reported.
The agency claims that the Georgian intelligence officials have received a directive from the political leadership not to hinder smugglers.
The same statement reads that another channel to supply Russia with military products has become known today and this is Eastern Asia which is expected to supply occupiers with electronic and optical devices.
Ukrainian intelligence says that Russia and Georgia are also discussing the possibility of resumption of direct flights.
Russia suspended direct flights with Georgia back in 2019 amid large-scale protests in Tbilisi which were sparked by the presence of Russian MPs in the Georgian state legislature, with one of them, Sergey Gavrilov, occupying the seat of the Georgian parliamentary speaker.
The Russian lawmakers had to leave the country in an emergency manner as people took to the street, accusing the Georgian Dream leadership of insulting the country which has 20 percent of its territories occupied by Russia.
