The freelance adviser of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Oleksiy Arestovych, on Tuesday announced his resignation following a social media post over the Dnipro strike last week, where he said the Ukrainian air defense system allegedly first shot down a Russian missile that later hit a residential blocks, killing dozens.

“I want to show an example of civilized behavior: a fundamental mistake has been made, therefore I must resign,” he wrote.

Arestovych’s statement has been widely used by the Russian propaganda media to place blame onto Kyiv for the deadly incident.
