Ukrainian ship exempt from taxes, Georgia to care for Ukrainians on board

The Ukrainian ferry Vilnius which was unable to return to the country due to hostilities there and had to dock in Poti, Georgia on February 27 has been exempt from state taxes, while Georgia  will take care of the Ukrainian citizens on board.

 

By the decision of the Georgian Minister of Economy, the ship was released from the obligation to pay the service fee provided by the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia and the State Hydrographic Service of Georgia.

 

According to the head of the Maritime Transport Agency, the ferry company “Poti Pilot” also served the ferry for free.

 

The ship was also exempted from the pilotage service fee.

 

“Organized by the Maritime Transport Agency, the National Tourism Administration and the Department of Tourism of Adjara, Ukrainian citizens on the ferry will, if they wish, travel to Batumi and stay in a hotel free of charge,”said a local official.
