European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has said on Sunday that Ukraine shouldn’t cease the fight in order to maintain its existence.

“If Russia stops fighting there will be no war in Ukraine, But if Ukraine stops fighting there will be no more Ukraine”, said President of EU commision.

She was speaking at an event at the Taize Christian religious community where she quoted Brother Alois and said that “Evil will not have the last word in Ukraine”.

Ukrainians have been fighting for their democracy, for their self-determination and for the respect of human dignity. “Ukrainians want Europe because they want more democracy, more freedom, and more perspective”, stated Leyen.
