Ukraine's parliament has approved Serhii Koretskyi as the country's new prime minister, backing his nomination with 289 votes following a government reshuffle initiated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Koretskyi's appointment came two days after parliament approved the resignation of Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko. President Zelenskyy formally nominated Koretskyi on 16 July.
Koretskyi, the former chief executive of state energy company Naftogaz, told lawmakers his priorities would include strengthening Ukraine's defence, maintaining economic stability and advancing the country's integration with the European Union.
