A Ukrainian delegation has arrived in Miami for bilateral talks with representatives of the United States.
The delegation includes the National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, the Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Budanov and Member of Parliament David Arakhamia.
On the US side, the talks are expected to involve US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, one of the US Government’s chief negotiators in the Middle East.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the meeting between Ukrainian and American officials would take place today and would not include representatives from Russia.
Zelenskyy added key topics on the agenda include preparations for future trilateral negotiations on a possible end to the war, including the potential participation of a Russian delegation.
Other issues to be discussed include the procurement of weapons for Ukraine and a proposed “drone deal” with Washington. Under the arrangement, Kyiv could share battlefield-tested drone defence technologies with the US in exchange for critical defence systems, including capabilities to counter ballistic missiles, as well as broader security guarantees.
