Ukraine’s General Staff says Russia has lost more than 1.2mln troops since start of war

Russia has lost approximately 1,204,510 military personnel in Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, including 1,200 casualties over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff of the Armed Forces reported on Sunday.
According to the updated data, Russia’s estimated total combat losses from February 25, 2022, to December 28, 2025, also include significant losses of military equipment.
The General Staff reported the destruction of 11,469 tanks (+5 in the past day), 23,831 armored combat vehicles (+8), and 35,557 artillery systems (+15). Russian forces have also lost 1,581 multiple launch rocket systems (+2).
Other reported losses include 1,264 air defence systems, 434 aircraft, and 347 helicopters, with no changes recorded in these categories over the past day. Ukrainian forces also destroyed 96,227 operational-tactical level drones (+688) and 4,136 cruise missiles (+29).
In addition, Russia has lost 28 ships and boats, two submarines, 71,778 vehicles and fuel tanks (+166) and 4,029 units of special equipment, according to the General Staff.
