Ukraine says Russia has lost over 1.27mln troops since start of war

General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Sunday said Russia had lost about 1,273,290 troops in the war against Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

In its latest update, the Ukrainian military said Russian forces had suffered 930 additional casualties over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of troops killed or wounded since 24 February 2022 to more than 1.27 million.

The General Staff said Russia’s estimated total combat losses between 25 February 2022 and 8 March 2026 also include:

  • Tanks: 11,742 (+5 in the past day)

  • Armoured combat vehicles: 24,157 (+6)

  • Artillery systems: 38,059 (+55)

  • Multiple launch rocket systems: 1,673 (+3)

Additional losses reported by the Ukrainian military include:

  • Air defence systems: 1,322 (+0)

  • Aircraft: 435 (+0)

  • Helicopters: 349 (+0)

  • Operational-tactical drones: 164,416 (+2,558)

  • Cruise missiles: 4,403 (+19)

The figures also show that 30 light speedboats or ships and two submarines have been destroyed since the start of the war.

Meanwhile, losses in military vehicles and fuel tankers reached 82,101 units (+289 in the past 24 hours), while 4,083 units of special equipment have been destroyed, according to the report.
