Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Denmark to participate in events marking the beginning of the country's six-month presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed Zelenskyy’s arrival, and Danish media broadcasted footage of the Ukrainian leader landing in Copenhagen ahead of a series of official engagements.

President Zelenskyy is expected to attend high-level ceremonies alongside Denmark’s royal couple, government officials, and senior European politicians.

Denmark formally assumed the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union from Poland on 1 July. Under the presidency’s slogan, “A Strong Europe in a Changing World,” the Danish government has pledged to strengthen the EU’s geopolitical resilience and independence.

In a statement outlining its priorities, the Danish government said that key goals include bolstering support for Ukraine and tightening sanctions against the Russian Federation. Officials in Copenhagen have also emphasised the importance of building a more stable and autonomous European Union capable of responding to global challenges.
