Ukrainian defence forces shot down Russian Su-35 fighter jet

The Ukrainian Air Force on Tuesday said its forces had shot down a Russian Su-35 multirole fighter aircraft during operations on the eastern front.

The Ukrainian Air Force said the Russian fourth-generation-plus (4++) fighter jet was destroyed in the eastern operational direction. No further details, including the location or circumstances of the incident, were immediately released.

The Russian-built Su-35 is a supersonic multirole fighter designed to establish air superiority and carry out strikes against ground and maritime targets. It is regarded as one of Russia's most advanced non-stealth combat aircraft and is capable of performing high-agility manoeuvres, including at relatively low speeds.

Ukraine has previously reported shooting down several Su-35 aircraft since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.
