Unemployment rate at Q3 at 15.6%

The  unemployment rate in Georgia has not changed compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and is at 15.6 percent, the National Statistics Office of Georgia said on Monday.

 

The survey said the number of hired persons increased by 29.3 thousand (3.2%) and reached 943.2 thousand, while the number of self-employed persons decreased by 21.5 thousand (4.8%) and amounted to 422.8 thousand. In the same period, the number of unemployed increased by 1.4 thousand (0.6%) and amounted to 252.2 thousand.

 

The unemployment rate was traditionally higher among men than women. In the 3rd quarter of 2023, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the mentioned indicator among women has decreased by 0.2 percentage points, and among men it has increased by 0.1 percentage points and amounted to 12.8 percent and 17.7 percent.
