Ukraine has said it will impose reciprocal measures after Hungary banned entry to a Ukrainian commander accused of leading attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline.
Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said Kyiv would mirror Budapest’s move, calling Hungary’s stance “a moral downfall.”
“If a Russian pipeline is more important than Ukrainian children killed by Russia this morning, then Hungary is on the wrong side of history,” Sybiha wrote on social media.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said the decision followed a series of recent Ukrainian strikes on the Druzhba pipeline, which supplies Russian oil to Europe and is important for Hungary’s energy security.
He confirmed that the entry ban applied to the Ukrainian military officer who allegedly commanded the most recent attack on the pipeline.
