UNICEF has urged for reopening of schools around the world.

“Children’s futures cannot be put on hold. After 18 months of education disruption due to COVID-19, getting students back in classrooms and providing the support they need to catch up is critical,” said UNICEF in its statement yesterday.

Georgian schools launched onlne studies yesterday.

Georgian health and education officials say that in-person studies may resume in October if the Covid infection rate goes down five percent.

Currently the infection rate is above seven.

UNICEF Georgia has several times urged the government to ensure in-person studies, adding that educational institutions carry fewer threats of spreading the virus.

As of September 13, more than 36 percent of teachers have been fully vaccinated in Georgia.
