Head of the United National Movement (UNM) opposition party, Nika Melia, stated at the opposition rally in central Tbilisi now that no one will leave the site until they understand the decision of former president Mikheil Saakashvili on his transfer to Gori hospital.
The Georgian Justice Ministry offered Saakashvili earlier today that if he accepts he will be brought to Gori military hospital in central Georgia, on the 50th day of his hunger strike.
The opposition has been holding rallies across the country for several weeks, demanding Saakashvili’s transfer to a civil clinic.
Saakashvili reportedly fainted in Gldani Prison No.18 hospital yesterday due to the hunger strike.
Melia says that the UNM member Eka Kherkheulidze is meeting with Saakashvili in prison now and she will inform the public about the decision of the former president.
