United National Movement (UNM) opposition mayoral candidate in Kutaisi, Khatia Dekanoidze, is demanding the rejection of results in several polling stations in yesterday’s municipal election run-offs and recount of invalid ballot papers.
Dekanoidze came second in yesterday’s mayoral runoff, while in the first round of the elections on October 2 she came first.
Dekanoidze says that there is a disbalance between registered voters and the ballots cast in 20 of 124 polling stations, and the results of removable boxes, as well as of a polling station for Covid patients and in prison, cause question marks.
Dekanoidze claims she will use all legal methods to prove she ‘won the race’.
The ruling Georgian Dream candidate Ioseb Khakhaleishvili received 51.64% of the vote in the run-offs, while Dekanoidze – 48.36%.
