Member of the United National Movement (UNM) opposition party Roman Gotsiridze has told Front News that the statements PM Irakli Garibashvili made today on creation of 100,000 jobs and the increase of GDP to 65 billion GEL, are absurd.

He stated that for creation of jobs, at least half billion USD in investment is necessary, while the number of foreign investments has decreased.

“Over the past five years 66,000 jobs have been cut and respectively 66,000 individuals have been left unemployed. Many of the people are now emigrating. About 32,000 individuals have left the country in the past four years. A portion of the 32,000 have been forced to return due to the pandemic,” Gotsiridze said.

He stated that the Georgian Dream government also promised an increase in GDP back in 2012, ‘but no growth was recorded.’
